Faster Pussycat... Kill! Kill!, 2003

Le corps féminin est l'un des sujets de prédilection du travail de Aïcha Hamu. Par exemple, elle sélectionne des publicités qui mettent en scène un corps féminin le plus souvent glamour, chic et sexy. Après avoir retravaillé ces images à l'ordinateur, elle les reproduit avec des matériaux qui sont avant tout destinés au soin et à l'habillement, en particulier l'henné et la dentelle. Par ce procédé, elle transforme le "corps support" en "corps sujet". Pour Floating Bowl, elle réalisera en dentelle une scène du film Faster Pussycat Kill Kill : une belle manière d'interroger les mécanismes de la séduction et des fantasmes.

The human body is one of the subjects of predilection in the work of Aïcha Hamu. She selects, for example, advertising images which represent the female body in a glamorous, chic or sexy way. After re-working these images on her computer, she reproduces them with materials that are primarily destined for dressing women, in particular henna and lace. By this process, she transforms the 'body frame' into the 'body subject'. For Floating Bowl, she will recreate in lace a scene from the film Faster Pussycat Kill Kill: a pretty way of analysing the mechanisms of seduction and fantasies.
