Lara Almarcegui
(Spain, born in 1971, live in Rotterdam)

In her artistic work, Lara Almarcegui presents a very personal analysis of architectural and urban contexts. On the scale of a city, for instance, she drew up a map of Amsterdam's vacant lots. She also organised actions to raise consciousness on the preservation of gardens for the working class in some districts of Turin or Utrecht. Her other interventions in French, Belgian, or Dutch cities encourage the public to reflect upon the demolition of buildings. Throughout her reflection on the nature of architecture, she presents " portraits " of buildings or town districts, with a list of all the material they are made of, including the weight of each material. For the exhibition Buenos dias Santiago, she will attempt to draw a similar " portrait " of the MAC.
