History of Masculinity
, 2005
24 drawings gray pencil and lead pencil on paper, 35cm X 45cm
5 digital impressions on paper, variable dimensions

Marc Bauer is specialised in drawing, although he also works with video and sculpture. His subjects are often related to his own life, in particular through childhood memories and family accounts. By evoking multiple memory relays and periods, his personal history becomes intermingled with History and regularly focusses on difficult moments and political references. His drawings, usually representing human figures, condensate their charcteristic features with striking expressive power. While mainly working with A3 format, he can also resort to much bigger formats for some of his drawings, thus conferring them an almost spatial power.
