Geert
Goiris is a frequent traveller, always in search of unusual places and powerful,
strange and beautiful " scenes " to use for the composition of his photographies.
The uncanny character of the situations he interested in is usually due to the
hand of man. He speaks himself of " traumatic realism ", and his images are charged
with a mysterious poetic value. Although everything is real in his shots, they
could also be regarded as mental landscapes, where reality tends towards a sort
of ideal. While usually resorting to an average format, he can also produce very
big printings, the size of a wall, thus provoking in the spectator a mental projection
into the magnificence of the image. solo
