The
work of Mario Navarro is a sort of political and identitary investigation into
his own living environment. An istance of it is his project on the 1970's car
Chevrolet Opala, too expensive for ordinary people but a symbol of the police
and security agencies, and beyond this of the social and political weakining caused
by the Chilean dictatorial machinery. One of his public projects also consisted
of a temporary radio based in a roulotte, aiming at creating links between political,
community-related and artistic values. For our exhibition, Mario Navarro will
build a red container placed on a rotating axe. The container itself, emprisoned
within its own absurd momentum, also evokes the permanent movement of the thousands
similar structures throughout the world. solo
